Message boards and Forums have always been a popular way for genies to communicate online, and newer platforms such as Genealogywise. Twitter makes it more instant of course which is what we want when we are on a roll with research (even while cooking dinner... been there..) As my tree is mostly Scottish I always try Gairdiner or similar as in Scotland the name is pronounced Gay-rdiner as opposed to Gah-rdiner. If anyone is trying to trace Scottish Gardiners I would give it a try as the person writing it down would probably have had it said to them as Gay-rdiner.
